The Butterfly Piano

'Golden Butterfly' piano in the Treehouse home studio.

This is my Butterfly Piano in the TN TreeHouse Home/Studio. It is one of only 6 built by Pearl River Piano company in 2006 for their 50th anniversary. It measures 6'6" and features a metalic golden/orange finish highlighted with Silver accents. The lid hinges from the center, to create the butterfly image, and flys on very special brushed nickel Butterfly shaped hinges. The pedal lyre has a graceful, swan-like arc with 2 pedals. Very european. The cast iron harp and sorrounding cabinet is rounded at the tip to accomodate the wings of the lid.

The sound is brilliant and rich. I spend my practice hours on the Butterfly keys when I am home in Tennessee. Lately I am working on the next CD 'The Brotherhood Of Jazz' composing and arranging new songs like 'Tennessee Treehouse' (named for the home studio) Another new piece that is in the works 'Corner Office' was entirely composed on the Butterfly.
